The engineering company expects to spend 500,000 hours of work on the 1,000 million euro installation in Huelva.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The detailed engineering for the largest second-generation biofuels plant planned in southern Europe, with an investment of 1 billion euros by Cepsa<\/a>, has been awarded to T\u00e9cnicas Reunidas. It is one of the most important initiatives in the field of energy transition in Spain, with Cepsa and Bio-Oils (from the Asian group Apical) planning a remodelling of the La R\u00e1bida<\/a> petrochemical complex in the Andalusian town of Palos de la Frontera (Huelva).<\/p>\n

The future plant will use as feedstock waste from the agricultural sector and recycled cooking oils from two pre-treatment units. Its production capacity will reach half a million tonnes per year of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel.<\/p>\n

Airlines, shipping lines and land transport operators are waiting for initiatives to increase the availability of biofuels to meet the decarbonisation milestones set by the European Union. The higher the production, the lower the costs are expected to be, so transport associations are demanding incentives for plant investment.<\/p>\n
