The company will invest around EUR 8 billion over the next decade, of which around 60% will be for projects linked to green hydrogen or biofuels.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Cepsa have signed a EUR 285 million loan to finance the construction of the second-generation biofuels plant to be located next to the La R\u00e1bida Energy Park in Palos de la Frontera.<\/p>\n

The plant, which Cepsa is building together with Bio-Oils<\/strong>, will produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel (HVO) from organic waste, such as used cooking oils or agricultural waste, among others. Once operational, the plant is expected to be able to process 600,000 tonnes per year (tpa) of waste to produce up to 500,000 tpa of second-generation<\/strong> biofuels, thus promoting the circular economy.<\/p>\n

The biofuels will be used in sectors of the economy where decarbonisation and electrification is complex, such as air transport, maritime transport and even heavy road transport. Biofuels are an immediate solution to reduce CO2 emissions in this sector, without making changes to existing engines.<\/p>\n
