Special commendations for 2024 will be awarded to the Maritime Captaincy, the company Moeve and the Virgen de la Cinta Social Dining Hall.

The Port of Huelva has held a meeting of its Board of Directors today, chaired by the president of the institution, Alberto Santana, during which the appointment of Alfonso Peña López-Pazo as director of the institution was approved.
In this context, the president of the Huelva Port Authority highlighted the outstanding work carried out by Alfonso Peña over 22 years at the Port Authority of Huelva, leading key infrastructure and civil engineering projects aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the Port of Huelva and fostering a closer relationship between the port and the city.

Alfonso Peña López-Pazo holds a degree in Civil Engineering (Roads, Canals and Ports) from the University of Granada and is an Expert in Maritime Transport and Port Management from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He began his career at the Port Authority of Huelva in 2002, holding various positions including Head of Infrastructure, Unit Head, Division Head, Head of the Projects and Works Department, Head of the Infrastructure Area and Deputy Director of the Port.

During the same session, the president of the Port of Huelva also announced the special commendations proposed by the Management Committee of the Port Authority of Huelva for the 2024 edition. These recognitions highlight institutions and groups for their contribution to the growth of the Port of Huelva and to the economic and social development of the province.
The awards will be presented during the Port Day celebration to be held in December. This year’s distinctions will go to the Maritime Captaincy in the institutional category, the company Moeve in the business category, and the Virgen de la Cinta Social Dining Hall of Huelva in the social category.
