The Port of Huelva will launch a new container shipping service connecting, via Castellón, with several destinations in the Mediterr
anean a
nd the Middle East, as well as the maritime region of India and Pakistan. The new service will be operated by the Italian shipping company Messina Line, owned by Ignazio Messina & C., through an agreement with MCI (Maghreb Container International), which already operated the Huelva–Casablanca–Spanish Mediterranean route.
The new connections were presented today during an event held for companies from the port community at the Reception and Documentation Centre of the Port of Huelva. The event was attended by the president of the Port of Huelva, Alberto Santana; the port’s director, Alfonso Peña; the Head of Business Development and Commercial Area, Jaime Beltrán; the Spain director of Messina Line, Federico Spinnato; the MCI Line Manager, Javier Blanco; the Commercial Director of Alisios Shipping Lines, Gerardo García Gavira; as well as representatives from the Port of Castellón, Yilport Huelva and the HuelvaPort Association, among others.
The president of the Port of Huelva thanked the shipping companies for “their commitment to increasing the maritime connections of the Port of Huelva with new destinations in order to expand container exports and imports within our area of influence, which will allow us to continue growing as a logistics and intermodal port.”
