The Port of Huelva has been named a winner in the 2nd edition of the 2026 Corredores Awards for the best freight transport initiatives, thanks to the Ruta1400 Huelva–Canary Islands, in the category of excellence in the supply chain. These awards are organized by Adif and involve the participation of the commissioners of the Atlantic and Mediterranean Corridors, as well as the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.

The presidente of the Port Authority of Huelva, Alberto Santana, has attended the award ceremony, held yesterday in Barcelona as part of the International Logistics Exhibition (SIL)., where, after receiving the award, he expressed his gratitude for a distinction that “strengthens the role of the Port of Huelva as a node of the European Atlantic Corridor and a connectivity link with the Canary Islands, boosted by the Ruta1400 Huelva–Canary Islands initiative, which has succeeded in establishing a regular, customer‑oriented maritime connection using ro‑pax vessels (roll‑on/roll‑off cargo and passengers) and container ships, while also incorporating rail transport with a view to future growth through the implementation of rail motorways.”

The Ruta1400 Huelva–Canary Islands brand was officially launched in November 2021. This initiative is a pioneering model of public–private collaboration, led by the Port of Huelva, and supported by the partnership of the shipping companies Baleària & Fred. Olsen Express (Ro‑Pax vessels). and by Alisios Shipping Lines (container ship), as well as by the railway operators that collaborate with them and connect the Port of Huelva with the inland territory, such as Renfe Mercancías and Athos Rail, along with the terminal operators Termisur and Yilport, located at the Majarabique rail‑port terminal (Seville) and the Port of Huelva, respectively.

The consolidation of this brand has made it possible to strengthen efficient connectivity between the Peninsula and the Canary Islands from the Port of Huelva, reduce time, costs, and emissions, and reinforce territorial cohesion.
