Huelva, November 30th, 2022 – The jury of the third edition of the HuelvaPort Logistics Awards, which met on November 28th, has decided to award the HuelvaPort Sustainable Logistics Award to the Cepsa Cepsa Company and the HuelvaPort Efficient, Intelligent and Connected Logistics Award to the Bergé company..
Likewise, as in the previous edition, an honorary mention will be awarded in memory of Manuel Vega, to the Strategic and Commercial Initiative, which is aimed at organisations and companies, not necessarily associated with Huelvaport, and which have stood out for promoting a strategic and commercial initiative that contributes to the growth of activity in the Port of Huelva. This mention has been awarded to the Ruta1400 Huelva-Canarias brand, which includes the shipping companies Fred. Olsen Express & Baleària, Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea and Alisios Shipping Lines.
The president of HuelvaPort, Antonio Ponce,highlighted the excellence of the projects presented, the result of the new plans and investments that an increasingly solid and united port community is contemplating, and congratulated the award-winning companies for their commitment to projects that promote economic development and the positioning of the Port of Huelva at a global level. In this sense, Antonio Ponce stressed the need for the companies of the port community to continue working in the same direction, with the aim of promoting new business opportunities for the benefit of the Port of Huelva and always in line with actions immersed in processes of innovation, digitisation and respect for the environment.
For her part, the president of the Port of Huelva, Pilar Miranda,has positively valued the already consolidated celebration of the Huelvaport Logistics Awards, which provides greater visibility to the business community that is committed to the growth of the Port of Huelva and contributes to strengthening the positioning of the port in global logistics chains with a wide range of services. Likewise, Pilar Miranda emphasised “the effort and dedication of the companies of the port community awarded, for undertaking new activities which generate employment and wealth in their environment”.
On this occasion, the jury is composed of the president of HuelvaPort, Antonio Ponce, who chairs the jury, the president of the Port Authority of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, the head of the Technical Office of HuelvaPort and head of the Business Development and Commercial Department of the Port Authority of Huelva, Jaime Beltrán, the director of the newspaper Huelva Información, Javier Ronchel, the maritime captain, Alejandro Andray, the head of the Provincial Customs and Taxes Department, José Carlos Ruibaldeflores, and the secretary of the Jury and technical-commercial manager of HuelvaPort, Jennifer García.
The Sustainable Logistics Award, aimed at business initiatives of HuelvaPort associates, which contemplate in a balanced way, results related to energy transition, environment, business sustainability, and social impact, has gone to the company Cepsa, a benchmark of energy transition and leader in sustainable mobility, biofuels and green hydrogen in Spain and Portugal.
In this context, the jury has valued the project of the polyduct presented by the company, which is a key aspect for the achievement of the optimization of the logistics of entry and exit of products, adjusting to the highest standards in terms of operability, efficiency and safety in its facilities. This project is directly related to the heavy investments that CEPSA is making in Huelva to turn its Huelva facilities into a benchmark in the production and distribution of alternative fuels of the future, in line with its Positive Motion strategy, already announced by the company.
For its part, the Efficient, Intelligent and Connected Logistics Award aimed at business initiatives of HuelvaPort associates that contemplate, in a balanced way, outstanding results in the field of management, operations and in the business model, through innovation, digitization and operational efficiency, has corresponded to the company Bergé. This company, a benchmark in logistics services and solutions that integrates the entire supply chain to facilitate the global transport of goods, has presented the project for the new mechanized bulk terminal in Huelva. These facilities improve operational performance in the unloading, transport, weighing and storage of goods from bulk carriers, minimize crane maneuvering times, increase storage capacity and are designed to protect the environment by contributing to the reduction of the environmental footprint and energy savings.
The Manuel Vega Honorable Mention for Strategic and Commercial Initiative has been awarded to the Ruta1400 Huelva-Canarias brand, which comprises the shipping companies Fred. Fred. Olsen Express & Balèaria, Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea and Alisios Shipping Lines, for their cooperation and joint activity, focusing and aligning all efforts to generate integrated value for the Customer who decides to use the Huelva-Canary Islands routes, and for the achievement of a higher performance in the activity of the Port of Huelva, with new weekly services and a continuous growth in the volume of passengers, and in freight traffic, since its implementation.
On December 12th, the awards ceremony will be held in a public ceremony at Las Cocheras of the Port of Huelva.
