Andalusia accounts for 10.2% of the national chemical industry’s turnover—around €8.42 billion—highlighting its growing importance in employment, sustainability and exports.

Andalusia holds a prominent position within Spain’s chemical industry, ranking as the country’s third-largest region by turnover with 10.2% of the national total. This represents approximately €8.42 billion of the €82.49 billion generated by the sector nationwide in 2023.
This strong performance is largely driven by the industrial strength of Huelva, one of the country’s main chemical industry hubs alongside Barcelona and Tarragona.

Although Andalusia’s contribution remains below that of Catalonia—where the sector generates €34.2 billion (41.4% of the national total)—and the Community of Madrid, with €14.02 billion (17%), both regions benefiting from major pharmaceutical-chemical production, Andalusia still demonstrates significant growth potential.
