The project includes signalling upgrades, new technological systems and enhanced control infrastructure for rail operations within the port.

The Port of Huelva has allocated more than €2.7 million to a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening railway safety across its service area, with a particular focus on signalling improvements and the implementation of new technological solutions.
The works form part of the project titled “Development of new functionalities for the railway safety installations of the Port of Huelva”, financed through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU. These actions are also included in the Port of Huelva’s Investment Plan for the 2021–2025 period.
The measures carried out include the supply and installation of CTC and MIE servers (communications front-end systems) programmed for a new Centralised Traffic Control (CTC) centre linked to the port’s railway signalling system.

In addition, port personnel have received specialised training to operate and maintain the railway safety installations. Other key actions include the automation of rail access gates that allow trains to enter and leave the infrastructure managed by the Huelva Port Authority.
The project has also incorporated new surveillance cameras connected to the existing CCTV system, together with the installation of additional cabling networks and equipment required to integrate the new cameras into the current video management system.
