The Huelva Port Authority exceeds 2.7 million tons for the first time in the second month of the year and already accumulates 600,000 more in 2023 than in 2022.
The Port of Huelva closed the month of February with the best general port traffic data in its history. The Huelva Port Authority grew by 12.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. In total, 2,723,068 tons of goods of all kinds circulated through its facilities. These data reinforce the significant growth rate experienced by the Huelva infrastructure since the beginning of 2023. Between January and February, it already accumulates 5,530,207 tons of freight managed. This represents an average of 300,000 more per month than in 2022.
Huelva’s numbers acquire special relevance compared to a general downward trend throughout the Spanish port system. While most of the large ports are down, Huelva maintains its constant growth. In fact, it is one of those who are part of his ‘league’ that shows the best data so far this year compared to the previous one. Compared to previous years, it far exceeds 2020 (2,656) and 2017 (2,644), which were the best records in the historical series.
By items, the greatest weight was once again carried by liquid bulk. The transport of fuels and other derivatives represents a significant percentage of the turnover of the Port of Huelva. More than 2.2 million tons were of this type of merchandise.
