The projected production of 2 gigawatts is ten times the largest project currently underway in Europe.

The alliances that have emerged in the new Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley place Cepsa and the port authorities of the Bay of Algeciras and Huelva as the main actors who agree on carrying out the most “ambitious” project possible to face challenges such as the own supply and bunkering of all the ships that cross the Strait of Gibraltar, even for export.

Cepsa’s Vice President of Commerce and Clean Energy, Carlos Barrasa, explained at the 1st National Green Hydrogen Congress being held in Huelva that “scale is important” to make this new source of clean energy competitive, which motivated the company’s commitment to projects for the production of two gigawatts, “ten times the size of the largest company in Europe right now, which is 200 megawatts”.

In this sense, the president of the Port Authority of Huelva, Alberto Santana, guaranteed that “the demand for hydrogen is assured. A third of the H2V produced in Spain is already consumed in Huelva, which is the province with the most hours of sunshine in Europe and we already have industrial experience”.
