Fred Olsen Express began operating the route connecting the Canary Islands with mainland Spain on its own this June, serving the ports of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Huelva.

Likewise, the shipping company will add the Buenavista Express to this route, which entails a change in the company’s operations that will allow it to fully manage the service both in the islands and at the Huelva terminal. This is especially relevant given that the connection is strategic for the Canary Islands, not only in terms of passenger transport but also for freight transport and the supply of goods to the archipelago.

Greater cargo capacity

The ferry is 172 meters long and has capacity for 944 passengers, 390 vehicles, and up to 1,850 linear meters of cargo.

Additionally, during the summer months and through October, the shipping company will also have one of Balearia’s ro-pax vessels operating on a charter basis, in order to maintain the summer schedule configuration with four weekly rotations on the route.
