The Port of Huelva has held today a meeting of the Board of Directors, chaired by the president of this institution, Alberto Santana, which has approved the appointment of the deputy director and former head of the Infrastructure Area of the Port of Huelva, Alfonso Peña, as acting director of this institution.
This appointment has been made after the Board of Directors accepted the resignation of the former director of the Port of Huelva, Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio, who has held this position for nine years. An expert in logistics, he has resigned from his position of his own free will, due to personal reasons.
The president of the Port of Huelva has greatly appreciated “his seriousness, rigor and dedication at the head of this position, since his great specialization in ports and logistics has contributed to the Port of Huelva to advance significantly in its diversification as a logistics and intermodal port and has positioned us internationally as a reference port in liquid and solid bulk, ready to lead a relevant energy transition as an outstanding hub of green hydrogen in southwestern Europe”.
Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio has promoted in addition to numerous growth projects of the Port of Huelva, the Strategic Plan 2023-2030 of the Port of Huelva with vision to 2050, which includes the axes and objectives to mark the roadmap for the future of the port of Huelva as an energy and industrial cluster promoting clean fuels, as a logistics and intermodal port with competitive infrastructure and services and as a sustainable port from the environmental, economic and social, innovative and digitized point of view.
