Port traffic movement increased by 7.6% in the first five months of the year.
The Port of Huelva today held a session of the Board of Directors, presided over by the president of this institution, Alberto Santana, in which the annual accounts for the financial year 2023 were approved, showing a pre-tax profit of more than ten million euros. Thus, the total income of the Port amounted to more than 56.1 million euros and the turnover amounted to a total of 44.5 million euros, 0.75% more than the previous year. 64.52% of the income corresponds to usage fees and tariffs directly related to traffic, which in addition to the volume of tonnes moved are influenced by other variables, such as the nature of the goods, the form of presentation, the types of vessels, the length of stay or the quays used, and the remaining 35.48%, of a more fixed nature, corresponds to occupation and activity fees related to concessions and administrative authorisations of the public port domain.
In this session, a positive balance was also made of the total port traffic movement accumulated between the months of January and May, as it has exceeded 13.3 million tonnes, which represents an increase of 7.6% with respect to the same period of the previous year, as well as the increases recorded in liquid bulk traffic, with a rise of 6.45% and general cargo, with an increase of 63.10%. The movement of solid bulks has remained stable. Other relevant data have been the increase recorded in container traffic, by 44.33% and the movement of vehicles under the goods regime between Huelva-Canary Islands, which have grown by 40.1%.
