HuelvaPort and the Port of Huelva participate in more than twenty national and international actions to boost the commercial promotion of the Port

Huelva, 11th of July 2023. The Reception and Documentation Centre of the Port of Huelva hosted today the seventh General Assembly of HuelvaPort, the Association for the Commercial Promotion of the Port of Huelva.

At this meeting, which was attended by a large representation of the members who represent the different sectors which make up the port community, the different actions carried out by the association this year were followed up. Likewise, the members approved the accounts and the forecasts for 2024, as well as the report of activities carried out by the HuelvaPort Technical Office team.

The session was chaired by Antonio Ponce, president of HuelvaPort, and was attended by the president of the Port of Huelva, Alberto Santana, who highlighted the great work carried out by all the companies in the Port Community to position the Port of Huelva as an outstanding industrial hub and a multimodal benchmark in international logistics chains, through a wide range of services. Likewise, Alberto Santana stressed the importance of having a “strong and cohesive” port community around HuelvaPort. In this sense, Santana has assured that “the Port of Huelva needs a united port community to strengthen our commercial work, to position ourselves in international markets as a strategic multimodal node in southwest Europe, as well as to open new market opportunities, attract investment and attract new port traffic, which will contribute to the diversification of our activity and boost the economic development of the province and the region”.

Alberto Santana, President of the Port Authority of Huelva and Antonio Ponce, President of HuelvaPort.

Similarly, Antonio Ponce highlighted that the companies of the port community, mostly integrated in the HuelvaPort Association, “are the economic engine of the province and at the same time, national benchmarks and leaders in the international market. Our port community works to promote technological change, committed to sustainability for the benefit of all, and of course, for the benefit of Huelva and its citizens”.

Ponce thanked the Port Authority of Huelva for its support to the port community, made up of a strong productive fabric that “joins forces and synergies to improve the positioning of the Port of Huelva on a global level, generating added value that makes us stand strong against our different competitors”.

In relation to the different commercial actions carried out this semester, the presence of HuelvaPort at some of the most important trade fairs in our country, such as FITUR in Madrid, the International Logistics Fair in Barcelona or the International Congress of Red Fruits, recently held in Huelva, stands out. HuelvaPort has also been committed to the commercial promotion of the Port of Huelva in international markets, attending events such as Transport Logistics in Munich, Logismed in Casablanca or the 62nd General Assembly of Medcruise in Corfu, focused on the “luxury” class cruise sector, among others.

The occasion was also used to present the IV edition of the HuelvaPort Logistics Awards, which is committed to continuing with the format established in the previous edition. In this edition, there will be two categories and a special mention:

  • HuelvaPort Sustainable Logistics Award. Business initiatives of HuelvaPort associates that contemplate, in a balanced way, results related to energy transition, environment, business sustainability and social impact will be valued.

  • HuelvaPort Award for Efficient, Intelligent and Connected Logistics, which will be awarded to business initiatives of HuelvaPort associates that consider, in a balanced way, outstanding results in the field of management, operations and in the business model, through innovation, digitalisation and operational efficiency.

  • Manuel Vega Honourable Mention for Strategic and Commercial Initiative. Destined to organisations and companies (not necessarily associated with Huelvaport), which have stood out for promoting a strategic and commercial initiative, which contributes to the growth of activity in the Port of Huelva.

The Association for the Commercial Promotion of the Port of Huelva, which celebrates its seventh anniversary this summer, currently has more than fifty members, which enrich the portfolio of the port community represented by HuelvaPort, thus consolidating a solid comprehensive range of services.

To conclude, Antonio Ponce expressed his deepest gratitude “to all the companies that are part of HuelvaPort. Their hard work, commitment and excellence are fundamental to the success of our port community”.
