The increase of 71.80% in the transport of cargo vehicles stands out
The first semester of this year has left a positive balance in the ‘Route1400‘ that links the Port of Huelva with the Canary Islands, raising the indicators at all levels.
It is worth mentioning the 71.80% increase in the transport of vehicles in goods regime, as well as the 8.16% increase in the number of vehicles in roll-on roll-off mode and the 4.27% increase in the traffic of vehicles in passenger regime. In addition to vehicles, the use of the route by passengers, which increased by 0.49%, and container traffic, by 0.53%, also offered positive data in the first six months of 2023.
South Wharf currently has five weekly connections with the Canary Islands, three of them with ro-pax ferry type vessels (cargo and passengers), one ro-ro and one connection with a container ship. To promote this market, the Port of Huelva created a year ago the ‘Route1400 Huelva-Canary Islands’, with which it has encouraged the involvement of the different shipping companies in the promotion of these maritime connections. Three from Baleària- Fred. Olsen Expressone of Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea and one of containers of Alisios Shipping Lines.
